ABOUT US
The Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam Oysterbay - lovingly known as JOyster Bay by its members and by its many friends – is Tanzania’s largest Rotary Club. Since its charter in 2009, the Rotary Club of Oysterbay has exemplified Rotary International’s motto of ‘Service above Self’. The club has also been a cheerleader for uniting hard work in service with a healthy dose of fun and camaraderie.
Apart from its latest venture into Goat Racing, the Club focuses on community-based projects that are largely organized and carried out by its member volunteers and that are designed around issues of disease prevention & treatment, maternal & child health, water & sanitation, literacy & education.
We believe that only an educated person will thrive in a competitive, globalized world.
We believe that children and adult literacy, computer literacy, education in health and hygiene, sensitivity to waste and its management, vocational training, leadership development, coaching and support of young professionals as well as education in peace are key factors for a prosperous society in the 21st century.
Part of the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam Oysterbay’s vision is to change as many lives as possible through education.
The Rotary Goat Races will be a key factor in achieving this goal. All funds raised will be directly channeled back into community projects and initiatives that support education in various ways.
